The draconian rhetoric, once reserved for the likes of tyrants and dictators, has become commonplace in right-wing media when referring to President Joe Biden and the elected government he leads. It’s all part of a larger trend that has dramatically disfigured the conservative media since Trump ascended to power. Penny is facing a manslaughter charge in the death of Neely, a 30-year-old homeless man. While Neely's behavior alarmed some passengers, one eyewitness told The New York Times that Neely never tried to assault anyone. The case has divided New Yorkers, who are grappling with a rise in crime on the New York subway system. "Justice looks like a conviction for murder," Edwards said at a press conference following the announcement of Penny's charges.

"Conservative podcasters were 11 times more likely than liberal podcasters to share claims fact-checked as false or unsubstantiated," the study said. Fifty-six of the podcasters reviewed shared false or unsubstantiated claims at some point, the study found. In total, more than 70% of the podcasts reviewed shared false claims at some point, including those described as "liberal," "moderate," or "unknown." The study noted that it included far more conservative podcasts in its sample as a result of choosing those that are most popular on Apple Podcasts. The sheer rate of production adds to the issue, it said, with conservative podcasters making longer and more frequent episodes.
